Root Canal Treatment

Why would I need root canal treatment?

Root canal treatment is needed when the dental pulp inside of your tooth becomes infected. This is often caused by tooth decay and is unlikely to go away on its own. This infection is likely to spread to your other teeth and gums if left untreated, so it is of utmost importance to receive root canal treatment before more damage it caused.

What does root canal treatment entail?

First a local anaesthetic is given to numb the area in need of treatment. Once this is completed the inside of the tooth is thoroughly cleaned using sophisticated rotary endodontic and then sealed with a crown or a filling to prevent further infection.

How successful is root canal treatment?

About 9 out of 10 root canal treatments in IRIS Dental Care are successful and you can expect to keep the saved tooth for over 20 years once it has been treated. If treatment is unsuccessful the tooth will be removed and replacement options will be offered, including dental bridges and dental implants.
