Dentures
What dentures are available and what can they do for me?
A number of different dentures such as partial or complete dentures, are available and they can all make a world of difference to a person’s face, not only restoring their smile but also the structure of their face. Patients have noticed a 10 years age difference once they receive their dentures, as well as a significant improvement in eating and speech.
Dentures come in the form of partial dentures (some missing teeth) and complete dentures (full set of missing teeth) and can either be left to sit naturally within your mouth or fitted with dental implants for extra stability.
What does denture treatment involve?
Your dentist will examine your mouth thoroughly and take an impression of your gums for the fabrication of your personal dentures. You will then be fitted with a temporary denture before returning for the fitting of your own, custom-made denture. This denture is specifically designed for your face, mouth and gums to provide complete comfort and durability.
How long do dentures last?
Dentures can last for many years, but this depends on your oral hygiene and the movement of your gums. As time passes your gums and jawbone begin to shrink and your dentures may become loose. If this is the case a new denture can be refitted, or dental implants can be used to hold the dentures in place.
How long do bridges last
If you maintain good oral hygiene and health you can expect your bridge to last between 10-15 years.
